Valley City State's Kyle Wiebe and Jared Lentz both recorded Top 10 finishes Wednesday as the Viking men's golf team competed in the UJ Fall Kickoff, held at the Jamestown Country Club.
Wiebe fired a 3-over 75 to tie for fifth place overall, while Lentz was just one shot back with a 76 and an eighth-place finish.
Those two rounds anchored Valley City's team score of 312, which was good for fourth place out of seven teams. The Vikings ended the day just two shots back of second place. University of Jamestown's top team took first with a 293 on their home course. Jamestown's second team took second place with a 310, while Manitoba was third with a 311.
VCSU's Collin Hoss had his best round of the season, shooting a 78 to tied for 13th place overall. Tyler Baukol rounded out the team score with an 83. Jeremie Pasitney fired an 84.
VCSU's Tyler Seebe and Dalton Beighley both played as individuals at the tournament and shot 88's.
The Viking women did not compete at the tournament.
