The Valley City State University softball team has added an infielder from California to its 2017 recruiting class.
Head coach Michael Mook announced today that Joelle Aiello has signed her letter of intent to attend VCSU in the fall and play softball for the Vikings.
A 5-foot-1 infielder from Napa, Calif., Aiello is currently a senior at Vintage High School. In her junior season Aiello amassed a .443 batting average while helping her team to a 15-5 record, a second-place league finish, and an appearance in the San Joaquin playoffs. She tallied 31 hits and 19 runs in 20 games.
"We are really excited to have Joelle coming to Valley City," said Mook. "She is a well-rounded softball player. Her solid fundamentals, strong work ethic, and positive attitude will be a great fit for our program at Valley City. We could not be more excited to welcome Joelle to our Viking Family."
Aiello also excels in the classroom with numerous 4.0 GPA semesters. She plans to study Health Sciences at VCSU. Aiello is the daughter of Dina and Tony Aiello.
Valley City State University is coming off a record-setting season in Mook's first year as head coach. The Vikings won a school-record 40 games as they went 40-13 overall and set more than a dozen team and individual records.
VCSU is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and a conference member of the North Star Athletic Association.
The Viking's open their 2017 season February 11th at the Presentation College Dome Tournament.
