Valley City State volleyball coach Adam Longmore announced today that Colorado native Morganne Eppard has signed a letter of intent to attend VCSU and play volleyball for the Vikings.

A 5-foot-5 libero and defensive specialist from Colorado Springs, Colo., Eppard will join the Vikings this fall. She is currently a senior at Vista Ridge High School. Eppard helped Vista Ridge to a 15-10 record last season and a playoff appearance. She averaged 5.3 digs per set, which led the league and was Top 10 in the state of Colorado.

"We are excited to announce the addition of Morganne to our other recruits for 2017," said Longmore. "We lose two back-row players this year to graduation, so Morganne is coming in to fill one of those spots for us. I had the chance to watch her last year during club season and again this past summer when she came out to camp. She has great ball control and will fit in nicely with the other players in our program."

Eppard was named 2nd Team All Conference during her senior season after racking up 431 digs and 33 service aces. She was honorable mention All Conference as a junior, is a four-year letter-winner, and was team captain for Vista Ridge the past two seasons.

Off the court, Eppard has lettered twice academically and plans to study health science while at VCSU. She is the daughter of Heather Eppard and Darren Eppard.
"Morganne is an exceptional student-athlete in both of those terms," said Longmore. "She has some lofty academic goals and is a driven individual. Her character is top notch in terms of work ethic, attitude, reliability and team commitment. She represents the type of individuals we seek after in our program."

Eppard joins Ellie Winter (5'9", Right Side, Valley City, N.D.), Hannah Anderson (5'7", Outside Hitter, Milnor, N.D.) and Paige Benson (5'9", Outside Hitter, Hankinson, N.D.) as 2017 Viking volleyball recruits who have signed.

Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and is a conference member of the North Star Athletic Association.
