MEDORA, N.D. – The Valley City State University men's golf team sits in first place after day one of the Dickinson State Invite at Bully Pulpit Golf Course.

The Viking men shot a team score of 324 on Sunday during windy conditions, and hold a slim two-shot lead over the University of Jamestown and Great Falls University.

Viking sophomore Jared Lentz led the way with a 75 on Sunday and currently has a two-shot lead in the individual standings. He's leading a trio of golfers who shot 77's on Sunday. VCSU junior Kyle Wiebe also had a solid score in the wind, carding an 80 as he sits in sixth place overall.

Collin Hoss (12th, 84), Jeremie Pasitney (14th, 85) and Cameron Rall (20th, 87) rounded out the Viking men's team.

On the women's side, Valley City State is currently in fourth after shooting a 444 on Sunday. Haley Christofferson and Nicole Heinitz both shot 103's in the first round as they are tied for 13th place individually.

The second and final round of the meet will be held Monday. Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT.
