Valley City State University volleyball coach Adam Longmore announced today that Minnesota native Nissa Johnson has signed a letter of intent to attend VCSU and play volleyball for the Vikings

Johnson is currently a senior at Elk River High School in Elk River, Minn. She will continue her education and volleyball career at VCSU this fall.  Johnson is a 6-foot-1 middle blocker, and she will remain at this position for the Vikings.

"Nissa is one of the first players I saw after arriving in Valley City three years ago.  I knew then that she would develop into a very nice player," said Longmore.  "She has grown over the years and brings a wealth of experience with her into our program.  Her dad was one of the first coaches that I met; we have stayed in close touch over the years.  We couldn't be more excited for Nissa and her family."

In her senior season Johnson helped her squad to a 16-12 record. Johnson was named all-conference in her junior and senior seasons.  Johnson has also seen success in the classroom receiving the all state academic award.

Johnson plans to study Health Science upon arriving at VCSU.  She is the daughter of Brian and Wendy Johnson

Johnson joins Rowan Garcia (5'7" Setter. Johnstown Colo.) Morganne Eppard (5'5" libero, Colorado Springs, Colo.), Ellie Winter (5'9", Right Side, Valley City, N.D.), Hannah Anderson (5'7", Outside Hitter, Milnor, N.D.) and Paige Benson (5'9", Outside Hitter, Hankinson, N.D.) as 2017 Viking volleyball recruits who have signed.

Valley City State University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and is a conference member of the North Star Athletic Association.
