JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Valley City State sophomore Seri Geisler needed just one throw to defend her conference championship in javelin on Thursday at the NSAA Track & Field Outdoor Championships.

Geisler's first toss in the javelin went for 46.28 meters, which easily held up as the top throw at the meet and beat second place by more than eight meters. It also set a new conference meet record, breaking her own mark from last season. It is Geisler's fifth conference title of her career and her third outdoor conference title. She is the favorite to pick up another title on Friday as she enters the shot put competition with the top throw in the NSAA.

The top three finishers in each event earn All Conference at the meet, while the top six finishers earn team points. VCSU's women are in fourth place out of six teams after scoring 20 team points on day one.
