Viterbo University is a unanimous favorite to win its third straight NSAA title. The V-Hawks received all nine first-place votes in the preseason poll. University of Jamestown is picked second, and Bellevue University is picked third. VCSU is projected to finish fourth, followed by Dickinson State, Dakota State, Waldorf University, Mayville State and Presentation College.

Valley City State University is set to open the 2017 season with a tournament at Northwestern University on Aug. 25-26. The Vikings play their first home match Sept. 6 against Concordia-Moorhead.

New this year, only the top six NSAA teams will qualify for the conference postseason tournament.  The postseason tournament will be held at the top seed on Nov. 10-11.
