Valley City State head football coach Dennis McCulloch announced today that his team's Sept. 23 home football game has been canceled. 

The Vikings were scheduled to host Finlandia University (Mich.) on Sept. 23, but Finlandia recently informed VCSU that it's football team could not play the game. The NAIA granted VCSU a forfeit victory.

VCSU will receive a forfeit victory by an official score of 1-0. The Vikings now have nine games remaining on their schedule.

VCSU opens the season with a home game on Saturday, Sept. 2, against Dickinson State University. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Century Club tailgating and the Handy Hardware Fan Zone begin at 1 p.m.
