Jamie Paurus begins his 12th year at Valley City State University and his fifth season as the head golf coach.
The Vikings won two tournaments during the 2015-16 season. The Viking men placed fourth at the NSAA Championships while the women placed fifth. Jared Lentz won medalist honors during the Minnesota-Morris Cougar Invitational, and both Ben Sorenson and Tyler Baukol earned 2nd Team All Conference.
During the 2014-15 season the Vikings won three tournaments, had two players earn medalist honors and had two players earn All Conference Honors. Ben Sorenson placed 3rd at the NAIA national qualifier/NSAA championships and Kyle Wiebe placed 6th, earning 1st and 2nd Team All Conference, respectively.
In 2013-14, Paurus guided the Viking men to a first-place finish at the Bismarck State Open. Two of his athletes, Shane Ost and Jake Richels, won medalist honors throughout the season.
His first season as golf coach was highlighted when the Viking men earned first place at the season-opening Jimmie Invite.
Paurus also serves as an instructor and Department Chair in the Division of Computer Systems and Software Engineering. Prior to becoming the golf coach, Paurus had taught youth and adult lessons in the Valley City area for several years. He is the 2010 Valley City Town and Club Champion and has shot a personal best of 68 three times.
A native of Frazee, Minn.; Paurus received his Bachelor's Degree in 2003 from North Dakota State University and went on to receive his Master's of Business Administration from NDSU in 2005.
Jamie, his wife Kelsey, son Carver, and daughter Berkley, reside in Valley City.
