Greetings from the Valley City State University Golf Program. The program is excited to continue on the success of the fall 2016 season with an equally exciting spring 2017 campaign! Highlights from the fall include the men’s team winning two tournaments with freshman Cameron Rall receiving medalist honors at the University of MN-Morris Cougar Invite and junior Kyle Wiebe winning the Dickinson State Invite. The women’s team added four top five finishes with junior Nicole Heinitz claiming the individual title at the Dickinson State Invite. The men and women were also named a NAIA Scholar Team based on their academic accomplishments. It is our goal to continue this success well past the spring; we have recruited some high quality golfers that will help us compete for a spot at our national tournament.
In order to meet these expectations of building a national qualifying golf team we need your help. It is important for us to develop an active booster club (Viking Country Club). The existence of the Viking Country Club will provide needed support to supplement our budget; providing the golf program with practice equipment, increase scholarship opportunities, enhance recruiting, and provide a travel budget to allow for spring golf tournaments. Being located in the northern region, the golf season can be very short. A winter/spring golf trip is crucial to player performance and the recruitment of future student-athletes.
Linked below is a Viking Country Club membership form. By joining, your tax deductible donation will support us in building a nationally competitive program. For your gift, you will receive online recognition on our website at http://vcsuvikings.com/vikingcountryclub. Also the individual with the largest donation will have their namesake used for our next hosted tournament.
Thank you for your consideration.
With Viking Pride,
Head Golf Coach
